Jos Verstappen Survives Rally Car Crash Unharmed During Charity Event in Belgium
Max Verstappen's father Jos escaped uninjured after a dramatic rally car crash during a charity event in Belgium, with the incident captured on video by spectators.

Jos Verstappen, father of four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen, survived a rally car crash during a charity event in Belgium on Saturday. The 52-year-old was participating in a demonstration run when his vehicle left the road and collided with a barrier at low speed. Emergency services were quick to respond, but reports confirmed he walked away from the incident unharmed.

Eyewitnesses at the event in Hasselt described seeing the car lose control on a wet section of the course before hitting an advertising barrier. Video footage circulating on social media shows the car spinning before coming to rest against the barrier, with marshals rushing to assist. The event, which was raising funds for a children's hospital charity, was temporarily suspended following the incident.

Jos Verstappen, who himself competed in Formula 1 during the 1990s, has been actively involved in motorsport promotional events since his retirement. He currently serves as a mentor and advisor to his son Max, who remains locked in a fierce battle for the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship with McLaren's Lando Norris.

Event organizers confirmed that safety protocols were followed and the incident is under review. "We are relieved that Jos is uninjured. Safety is our top priority at all our events, and our medical team responded immediately," said event coordinator Jan Van den Berg. The charity event continued after a brief pause, with participants honoring their commitment to the children's hospital fundraiser.
