Jorginho Clarifies Comments, Confirms Security Guard Was Not Connected to Chappell Roan
Former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has issued a fresh statement acknowledging that the security guard involved in a hotel incident with his daughter was not employed by pop star Chappell Roan.

Jorginho has moved to draw a line under a public dispute involving pop star Chappell Roan, confirming that the security guard at the centre of the incident was not working for the singer when he confronted the footballer daughter at a hotel in Brazil.

The 34-year-old Italy international had initially posted on Instagram claiming that a member of Roan team had reduced his wife Catherine Harding and their 11-year-old daughter Ada to tears during a breakfast encounter at a hotel in Sao Paulo. The situation drew significant media attention in Brazil, where Rio de Janeiro mayor Eduardo Cavaliere even indicated he intended to bar Roan from performing in the city.

Roan responded publicly, expressing sadness for the mother and child involved while stating she had no knowledge of the incident and that it did not involve her personal security team.

Jorginho has now revised his position. In a new statement published to his Instagram stories, the midfielder who now plies his trade with Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro acknowledged that the guard was representing another artist entirely. He stated that the security professional has confirmed publicly that he was representing another artist at the hotel at the time.

The situation did occur as described, and we acted on information that was available to us, Jorginho wrote. Chappell Roan made a public statement, reached out privately to Catherine, and our teams also spoke directly. It became clear that she had no knowledge of what took place at breakfast and had not asked anyone to approach them.

Jorginho added that while he will always stand up for his family, he also knows how to recognise when things were not quite what they seemed at first. He concluded by saying he does not support or encourage hate speech or online attacks from any side, and that the matter is now closed.

The incident serves as a reminder of how quickly public narratives can shift when partial information is shared, and how difficult it can be to walk back initial positions once they have entered the wider conversation.
