Jordan Pickford pleads guilty to careless driving after Knutsford incident
England and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has pleaded guilty to driving without due care or attention. He is due to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court on 7 December after requesting the opportunity to present mitigation.

England and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has pleaded guilty to driving without due care or attention following an incident in Knutsford, Cheshire, BBC News reported. The 32-year-old entered his plea in writing and is due to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court on 7 December, having asked to attend court to put forward his mitigation.

Watch the highlights:

The prosecution concerns his driving on 14 April, when police stopped his blue Lamborghini Urus. According to court documents cited by the BBC, Cheshire Police officer PC Cecil Ricardo saw the vehicle fail to give way at a junction, causing two other drivers to brake to avoid a collision. The officer's account described the Lamborghini continuing along Toft Road before he pursued it.

Ricardo said he had just left the police station and was stationary on Bexton Road, waiting for traffic lights to change, when he saw the car travelling along Princess Street. He reported that it reached the junction with Toft Road and pulled out without observing the give-way lines. The two vehicles already on that road had to brake sharply, according to his statement.

The officer said he then activated his lights and siren. In his account, Ricardo reported reaching 50mph while the Lamborghini continued to pull away from his police car. He noted that the speed limit on that section of Toft Road was 30mph. The BBC reported that Pickford appeared to notice the pursuing police vehicle and then pulled over. Those speed details were part of the officer's account of the incident.

Pickford's written response to Warrington Magistrates Court included his request to appear in person to present mitigation. The case was formally adjourned last week, according to the BBC, with the next appearance scheduled in Chester. The charge to which he has pleaded guilty is driving without due care or attention.

The goalkeeper began his career at Sunderland and had loan spells at clubs including Burton Albion, Bradford City and Preston North End. He has represented England at the 2018, 2022 and 2026 World Cups and was the team's goalkeeper in the Euro 2020 and Euro 2024 finals, the BBC reported.
