Jon Jones Disarms Knife-Wielding Fighter on Russian Reality Show as Daniel Cormier Threatens to Quit Over Safety Concerns
The UFC champion intervened when contestant Sergei grabbed a kitchen knife during filming of ALF Reality Global 3, prompting his longtime rival to consider leaving the show.

Former UFC champions Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier found themselves in a genuine crisis situation during filming of ALF Reality Global 3, Russia's version of The Ultimate Fighter, when Jones was forced to disarm a contestant who pulled a knife following an altercation.

The incident occurred when a participant identified as Sergei became enraged after being struck and suffering a cut under his chin during filming. Rather than using traditional conflict resolution, the agitated fighter ran to the kitchen area and attempted to grab a knife, creating what Jones described as one of the most intense moments he has witnessed during his involvement with the show.

Sergei's so mad, because now he has a cut under his chin, and he runs into the kitchen, and he wants to try to grab a knife, Jones explained. Which is really one of the most intense moments that I personally have seen being a part of this show for two seasons now. It scared the shit out of everybody. I had to grab the knife from one of the guys.

The UFC heavyweight champion's quick intervention potentially prevented serious injury or worse, demonstrating his ability to remain calm and take decisive action during dangerous situations. Jones, who has previously made headlines for intervening in real-world incidents, once again found himself playing the role of peacekeeper.

The severity of the situation was not lost on Daniel Cormier, Jones' longtime rival and co-coach on the show. The former two-division champion immediately considered abandoning the production, expressing serious concerns about participant and crew safety.

Well, I have to go, Cormier stated immediately after the incident. I think we're gonna go home. I might give them their money back and stay home, man. I don't know. I can't do this. It's too much. Somebody is gonna get hurt bad, like bad.

Cormier's reaction reflected genuine fear about the show's direction and the potential for serious harm. He described the initial altercation that sparked the knife incident, explaining how Sergei was hit in the face while sitting and not paying attention, escalating tensions beyond typical reality show drama.

This guy got hit in the face when he wasn't paying attention. Like, he was sitting there. and somebody hit him on the side of the tooth. But now they're fighting outside. Man, I don't know if I can do this. Tell him, this is too much. Like I might not be able to do this, Cormier elaborated.

The incident would not have been the first time a UFC fighter walked off the Russian production, with previous participants having abandoned the show due to various conflicts and safety concerns.

Jones recognized the precarious situation and stepped into a leadership role, addressing all participants about the broader implications of their actions. He emphasized the responsibilities they all carried beyond the confines of the television show.

Daniel Cormier mentioned that he wanted to go home, and obviously, we can't do this show without Daniel Cormier, Jones admitted. Especially this far into it. You know, I stood up, and I just talked to the guys about the fact that, ultimately this is a TV show, and ultimately, we have families at home, kids, and sponsors, and all types of stuff, and none of us can afford to lose any of this.

Jones' intervention extended beyond the immediate physical threat, as he successfully convinced Cormier to remain with the production after addressing the underlying safety concerns. His diplomatic approach demonstrated maturity and leadership that contrasted with some of his previous public controversies.

The incident highlights the unpredictable nature of reality television involving combat sports athletes, where competitive emotions and physical confrontations can escalate beyond entertainment into genuinely dangerous situations requiring immediate intervention from experienced professionals.
