Joe Burrow accounts for six touchdowns as Bengals beat Titans 43-36 in overtime
Joe Burrow threw five touchdown passes and ran for the overtime winner as Cincinnati beat Tennessee 43-36. The Bengals improved to 5-2, one game behind Pittsburgh in the AFC North.

Joe Burrow threw five touchdown passes and scored on a nine-yard run in overtime as the Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Tennessee Titans 43-36 on Sunday. According to the Guardian's live coverage of the NFL's eighth week, Burrow finished with 462 passing yards as Cincinnati survived a game that remained undecided until Tennessee's final possession.

Watch the highlights:

The Bengals quarterback had already thrown four touchdown passes when he connected with Mike Gesicki for a 25-yard score with 7:13 remaining in the fourth quarter. At that stage, the Guardian recorded Burrow's passing figures as 28 completions from 36 attempts for 320 yards, with three interceptions alongside his four scoring throws. His production came with turnovers that complicated Cincinnati's afternoon.

Tennessee repeatedly answered Cincinnati's scoring. Tony Pollard ran for a one-yard touchdown in the third quarter, with Cam Ward adding the two-point conversion to level the game at 21-21. Pollard was subsequently tackled in his own end zone for a safety. Ward later threw fourth-quarter touchdown passes to Chimere Dike and Wan'Dale Robinson, keeping the Titans in contention into the closing minutes.

Burrow found Tee Higgins for an 18-yard touchdown with 1:17 left in regulation. Cincinnati opted for the extra point rather than a two-point attempt, drawing level at 36-36. Tennessee still had an opportunity to respond, but Ward took a sack that left the Titans facing fourth-and-16. They punted, and neither side settled the contest before overtime.

Cincinnati advanced through gains involving Ja'Marr Chase, Samaje Perine and Higgins on its overtime possession. Burrow then turned a broken passing play into the decisive rushing touchdown, finding room to his right and reaching the end zone with seven minutes remaining in the extra period. Tennessee's subsequent possession ended with an incomplete fourth-and-three pass after the Titans had called timeout.

The result lifted Cincinnati to 5-2 and left Tennessee at 1-7. The Bengals remained one game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers at the top of the AFC North after Pittsburgh beat the Cleveland Browns 27-6. For Cincinnati, Burrow's overtime run and the final defensive stop completed a victory that five touchdown passes alone had not been enough to secure.
