Jenner and Lawrenson hit 81 as Jersey beat Denmark by 72 runs
Jersey returned to winning ways in the ICC Challenge League A with a 72-run victory over Denmark in Nairobi on Friday. Jonty Jenner and Josh Lawrenson each scored 81 as the Islanders reached 312-8 from their 50 overs, before dismissing Denmark for 240. BBC Sport reported that Jersey had already secured progression to the next stage of Cricket World Cup qualifying.
Watch the highlights:
The innings required a recovery after Denmark chose to field at Ruaraka Sports Club Ground. Moneycontrol's scorecard showed Jersey losing Harrison Carlyon with three runs on the board and reaching 89-3 when Zak Tribe was dismissed. Julius Sumerauer contributed 43 from 46 balls, including six fours and a six, before Jenner joined Lawrenson for the decisive fourth-wicket stand.
That partnership added 116, taking Jersey from 89-3 to 205-4. Although the two batters finished with identical scores, they compiled them at different speeds. Jenner needed only 53 deliveries and struck 10 fours and four sixes, while Lawrenson faced 97 balls and hit six fours. Their contributions provided the platform for Jersey to set a target above 300.
Denmark's Abdullah Mahmood took four wickets for 63 runs from 10 overs, accounting for Tribe, Jenner, Charlie Brennan and Lawrenson. Jersey nevertheless found further runs down the order. Benjamin Ward made 31 from 25 deliveries, William Perchard added 23, and Jake Dunford and Charles Perchard finished unbeaten on 11 and 10 respectively, according to the scorecard.
With the ball, Tribe and Ward claimed three wickets apiece as Jersey completed the win, BBC Sport reported. The result followed Tuesday's defeat by Kuwait. IPL.com's match records show Jersey were bowled out for 224 in that game and lost by seven wickets, having previously beaten Papua New Guinea by 172 runs and Kenya by 123 runs during the Nairobi leg.
Jersey have one match remaining in their Challenge League A campaign, against Qatar on Saturday. Their qualification place was settled before the Denmark fixture, so Friday's result marked a return to winning form rather than the moment they advanced. BBC Sport noted that Jersey won the teams' previous meeting, in August 2025, by eight wickets.
