Jeglertz says Manchester City Women carry on as impact of financial verdict remains unclear

Manchester City Women's manager Andree Jeglertz said his side had maintained its normal routine after the club was found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules. According to BBC Sport, he declined to say whether he had received assurances that the women's team would be unaffected, leaving the potential consequences for his squad unresolved.

The BBC reported that City were found guilty of all charges relating to financial-rule breaches covering the 2009-10 to 2017-18 seasons. The Premier League said commercial agreements had been used to conceal more than £830 million in funding. City continue to deny wrongdoing and have until 2 October to submit an appeal. The findings concern Premier League rules, rather than the separate financial regulations governing the Women's Super League.

BBC Sport said it understood that WSL Football was not conducting an active investigation. The period covered by the charges was also one in which the women's league was governed by the Football Association. That distinction does not establish what, if any, wider effect the verdict could have on City's women's operation; the BBC described that question as still unanswered.

Jeglertz and defender Jade Rose were the first club representatives to face the media following confirmation of the findings, the BBC reported. Seven questions about the charges were put to the manager before City's press officer asked reporters to change the subject. Rose said the players had received the same information as the public and emphasised their focus on football rather than discussing the case.

The squad held an open training session on Wednesday morning, with director of women's football Therese Sjogran in attendance. The BBC observed no apparent alteration in the team's routine or behaviour. Jeglertz said preparations had continued normally and that the surrounding attention had not made his work more difficult. He also expressed support for the club when asked about a similar message from former men's manager Pep Guardiola.

On the pitch, City have begun their WSL title defence with 12 points from four matches and lead the table. They drew their opening Women's Champions League league-phase fixture against Bayern Munich last week. Their next match is against Real Madrid on Thursday, with Jeglertz saying his group had continued its usual work despite the unresolved questions surrounding the club.
