Isaak Davies ruled out for four weeks as Cardiff injuries mount
Cardiff City forward Isaak Davies faces four weeks out with a hamstring injury as Brian Barry-Murphy assesses further fitness concerns.

Cardiff City forward Isaak Davies has been ruled out for four weeks with a hamstring injury, adding to the club's fitness problems following Saturday's 3-0 Championship defeat at Wolves. BBC Sport reported the Wales international's absence on Tuesday as head coach Brian Barry-Murphy gave an update on a squad already short of defensive options.

Watch the highlights:

Davies is not the only concern before Wednesday's home match against West Ham. Barry-Murphy said Perry Ng, Alex Robertson and Will Fish had not trained on Monday and would be assessed again on Tuesday. He expressed hope over Ng and said Krystian Bielik also had a chance of being available, without confirming either player's return.

The shortage was evident at Molineux, where Cardiff were missing Dylan Lawlor, Callum Chambers and Bielik, while Gabriel Osho was suspended. According to Hayters' reporting after the match, Barry-Murphy had to use Ollie Tanner at left-back and Joel Colwill at right-back. Ng played centrally despite his own difficulties, and the manager praised the players' efforts in unfamiliar or demanding circumstances.

Fish's hamstring had been sore at half-time, Barry-Murphy told Hayters. Cardiff initially kept him on because there was little cover and they were trying to recover the match, but the manager said the increasing risk meant he eventually had to be withdrawn. Robertson also had an Achilles problem.

There was better news concerning Rubin Colwill, who returned from the bench against Wolves. In Tuesday's update carried by BBC Sport, Barry-Murphy said the playmaker had felt good after his appearance. Callum Robinson, meanwhile, was omitted from the matchday squad for a third consecutive game; the manager confirmed he was not suspended but declined to give further details about his exclusion.

The update comes alongside a managerial change at Cardiff's next opponents. West Ham dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo on Tuesday after their 3-1 home defeat by West Bromwich Albion left them eighth in the Championship, the Guardian reported. The club had retained him following last season's Premier League relegation.
