Irving powers Buccaneers to first win as Cowboys turnovers prove costly
Tampa Bay secured its first victory of the season on Thursday, beating Dallas 24-16 in Arlington as Bucky Irving delivered 165 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The Buccaneers improved to 1-4 and the Cowboys dropped to 2-3, according to Field Level Media's report published by National Football Post. Irving's rushing total was a career high.

Rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels completed 19 of 25 attempts for 189 yards and a touchdown in his second start. He was replacing Baker Mayfield, who has a dislocated thumb. Irving scored once on the ground and once as a receiver, while Emeka Egbuka supplied Tampa Bay's other touchdown with a running play, Field Level Media reported.
The Cowboys' official game recap showed how thoroughly Tampa Bay controlled possession: the visitors held the ball for 39 minutes, 21 seconds, compared with Dallas' 20:39. Tampa Bay finished with 419 total yards to the Cowboys' 366 and ran for 241 yards. Dallas committed three turnovers without forcing one, a costly imbalance in an eight-point defeat.
Dallas had led 10-7 at halftime, but the advantage disappeared almost immediately after the restart. The Cowboys' recap described a two-play touchdown drive, beginning with Irving's 72-yard run and ending with Egbuka scoring from 14 yards. After an interception, Daniels found Tez Johnson for a 64-yard gain to help set up another Irving touchdown. Tampa Bay now led 21-10.
A fumble by Dallas returner KaVontae Turpin on the following kickoff gave the Buccaneers another scoring opportunity. They added a field goal to make it 24-10 before the fourth quarter. Dallas later stopped Tampa Bay on fourth down at the one-yard line, although the visitors' possession had consumed another eight minutes and 14 seconds, according to the team's recap.
Prescott answered with a 99-yard touchdown drive, finding George Pickens for the score, but Dallas failed on its two-point attempt. A subsequent Cowboys drive ended when Alex Anzalone intercepted a pass deflected off Jake Ferguson's hands, Field Level Media reported. Prescott finished with 316 passing yards and two interceptions; Pickens caught nine passes for 130 yards, but Dallas could not complete the comeback.
