Ipswich complete deadline-day deal for Burnley forward Zian Flemming

Ipswich Town have completed the signing of forward Zian Flemming from Burnley on a four-year contract, adding a proven scoring option on the final day of the summer transfer window. BBC Sport reported the completed move late on Tuesday, with the total package reported at up to £20 million.

The precise structure of the fee has not been officially disclosed by the clubs. Ipswich outlet TWTD reported an initial amount of about £17 million, with a further £3 million tied to add-ons. That makes the £20 million figure a possible total value rather than a confirmed guaranteed payment.

Flemming arrives after scoring 11 goals in the Premier League for Burnley last season and 12 in all competitions, according to TWTD. The 28-year-old had also scored three times in his first two matches of the new Championship campaign before the transfer. Those figures gave Ipswich recent top-flight production as they strengthened their attack.

The Dutch forward joined Burnley from Millwall in August 2024, initially on loan. The move became permanent the following summer in a deal reported at £7 million. Earlier in his career, Flemming developed at Ajax, then played for PEC Zwolle, NEC and Fortuna Sittard before moving to English football with Millwall in 2022.

Ipswich manager Gary O'Neil said Flemming's quality, experience and strong start to the season made him a valuable addition to the squad. Flemming said he was proud to join the club and eager to return to Premier League competition after playing at that level with Burnley last season. He also pledged to give his full effort when selected.

TWTD described Flemming as Ipswich's 14th and final signing of the summer window. His arrival completed a day of negotiations that included travel to Suffolk, a medical and the final contractual formalities. The transfer is confirmed, while the add-on conditions and therefore the ultimate fee remain undisclosed and dependent on the reported terms being met.
