Inter Milan Close In on £30m Curtis Jones Deal
Inter Milan are nearing a £30m agreement for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, although both clubs say details still need to be settled. The 25-year-old is understood to be open to a new challenge.

Inter Milan are closing in on a deal worth 35 million euros (£30 million) for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, according to BBC Sport. The transfer has not been completed, and both clubs say further details still need to be discussed before an agreement can be finalized.

Watch the highlights:

BBC Sport reports that sources in Italy believe a verbal agreement is in place. The expected £30 million deal would come after Liverpool rejected a verbal offer of 25 million euros (£21.7 million) from the Italian champions in June. Liverpool valued Jones at about £35 million at that stage.

Liverpool are open to selling the 25-year-old, who has one year remaining on his current contract. The Premier League club is seeking a return broadly in line with the £30 million package Inter paid Tottenham for Djed Spence. Inter also pursued Jones in January, proposing a loan that could lead to a permanent transfer, but Liverpool turned down that approach.

Jones has been with Liverpool since joining the club's academy at age nine. He made his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019 and has since accumulated 228 appearances for the club. His long association with Liverpool makes the prospective move a significant change for a player developed entirely through their youth system.

Last season, Jones appeared 49 times across all competitions but started only 18 Premier League matches. BBC Sport reports that he struggled to establish a regular place in Arne Slot's midfield. Jones is understood to be interested in pursuing a new challenge, though the outstanding discussions mean his departure is not yet certain.

If the move is completed, Jones would become the third English player to join Inter this summer, following John Stones and Spence. For now, the clubs appear closer than they were after the rejected June offer, but the reporting stops short of describing the transfer as done.
