Huntley reportedly out for season as Ravens turn to rookie Fagnano
Tyler Huntley reportedly faces a season-ending turf toe injury, leaving Baltimore without its top two quarterbacks. Rookie Joe Fagnano is set to start with Lamar Jackson also sidelined.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley has reportedly suffered a season-ending turf toe injury, adding to the team's problems after Lamar Jackson hurt his throwing thumb. The Ravens' website relayed ESPN reporter Adam Schefter's findings on Wednesday, November 4, saying tests had revealed the extent of Huntley's injury following Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Watch the highlights:

Both quarterbacks were hurt in the same game. UPI reported that Jackson injured his thumb on his first pass attempt and Huntley was subsequently hurt in the first half after replacing him. Baltimore lost 36-10 in Orchard Park, with undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano called upon to finish the game after the two more experienced quarterbacks went out.

Jackson requires surgery and is out indefinitely, while Huntley's reported diagnosis removes another option for an extended period. The Ravens said Jackson would miss at least the next four games on injured reserve. Head coach Jesse Minter announced Tuesday that Fagnano would start against Jacksonville on Thursday. Although Fagnano also hurt an ankle in Buffalo, the club said he practised fully Tuesday.

Baltimore has already added quarterbacks to reinforce the position. The club signed Kedon Slovis from Green Bay's practice squad to its active roster on Tuesday and brought Austin Reed back to its practice squad Monday. According to the Ravens, Reed spent part of training camp and the preseason with Baltimore, while Slovis previously worked with quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork in Arizona.

Huntley had already been needed for three starts this season while Jackson was sidelined by an ankle injury. Sportsnet reported that he went 1-2 in those games. Across his appearances this season, Huntley threw for 727 yards, four touchdowns and one interception, while adding 76 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. His absence leaves Baltimore without a backup who had already carried a significant workload.

Fagnano completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards and an interception in his NFL debut against Buffalo, according to UPI. He joined Baltimore as an undrafted free agent in April. The Ravens enter their next game at 4-4, with the immediate quarterback assignment now falling to a rookie following injuries to both Jackson and Huntley.
