Huni Confirms Future Clash with Itauma: '100 Per Cent We're Going to Meet'
Former world title challenger Kalu Anyanwu has confirmed that a future showdown with promising light heavyweight prospect Tai Itauma is '100 per cent' on the cards, generating significant excitement in the boxing world.

British boxer Kalu Anyanwu has confirmed that a much-anticipated showdown with rising light heavyweight star Tai Itauma is inevitable, declaring '100 per cent' that the two will meet in the ring at some point in the future. The comments come amid growing speculation about a potential domestic dustup between two of Britain's most exciting talents in the 175-pound division.

Watch the highlights:

Itauma, who recently turned professional with Matchroom Boxing, has made an impressive start to his career with three dominant victories inside the distance. The 23-year-old Londoner has drawn comparisons to former unified champion Artur Beterbiev due to his technical prowess and destructive punching power. His latest performance, a second-round stoppage of experienced campaigner Valter Lacroix, showcased the frightening efficiency that has got the boxing world talking.

Anyanwu, known in the ring as 'The Nigerian Nightmare,' has established himself as a legitimate contender following his narrow decision loss to current WBA champion Joshua Buatsi in aFight of the Year contender. The Birmingham-based fighter holds an impressive record of 18-1 with 15 knockouts and has been calling for high-profile matchups since his defeat to Buatsi. His aggressive style and hometown popularity make him an attractive opponent for any emerging talent.

Speaking exclusively, Anyanwu expressed his desire to test himself against the best young fighters in the division. When asked specifically about Itauma, his eyes lit up with genuine excitement. "Tai is a fantastic young fighter. I've watched his fights and he's got serious skills. But I think there are levels to this game. A fight between us would be massive for British boxing, and I think our styles would create an absolute war. 100 per cent we're going to meet eventually - you can quote me on that.

Itauma, while focused on his own development, has not shied away from the speculation about a potential clash with Anyanwu. The young prospect recently stated that he would be open to facing domestic rivals once he has accumulated more professional experience. His team at Matchroom has been careful not to rush him into high-stakes contests, prioritizing long-term development over short-term marquee fights.

The light heavyweight division in Britain is currently experiencing a golden era, with multiple world-class operators competing at the highest level. Buatsi holds the WBA title, while WBC champion Beterbiev remains active and dangerous. Behind these established names, Anyanwu, Itauma, and others like Joshua vs. provide depth that could sustain the division for years to come.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has acknowledged the public interest in an Anyanwu-Itauma clash but cautioned that timing would be crucial. Both fighters need the right preparation and the right occasion to make the fight as big as it deserves to be. Nevertheless, with Anyanwu's confirmation and Itauma's rapid ascent, boxing fans can expect this potential matchup to remain a talking point throughout 2026 and beyond.
