Hull FC beat Leeds 18-12 in season-ending farewell for Briscoe

Hull FC beat Leeds Rhinos 18-12 at Headingley on Friday, ending their Super League season with an away victory over the second-placed side. BBC Sport reported that Logan Moy, Lloyd Kemp and Lennon Clark scored Hull's tries, while Kemp supplied all three conversions.

Moy's opener was answered by Chris Hankinson, leaving the teams level at 6-6 at half-time. Kemp restored Hull's advantage following an unsuccessful short drop-out by Leeds, and Clark extended it. Kallum Watkins scored with three minutes remaining, but Hull protected their lead through the closing stages. Jake Connor kicked two goals for Leeds, who finished with two tries to Hull's three.

The match also marked a farewell for several Hull players. In its official team announcement, the club said Tom Briscoe would captain the side in the final appearance of his career. Zak Hardaker, Davy Litten, Jake Arthur and Hugo Salabio were also making their last appearances for Hull, giving the season finale significance beyond the result.

Interim head coach Andy Last had changed four members of the squad that faced Toulouse the previous weekend, according to Hull's announcement. Briscoe, Hardaker, James Bell and Salabio came in. Aidan Sezer was absent with a foot problem, Ligi Sao was out with an HIA designation, and Sam Lisone was unavailable for personal reasons. Amir Bourouh also dropped out.

Hull's selection placed Moy at full-back, with Connor Bailey and Arthur in the halves and Kemp starting at hooker. Clark was named among the replacements alongside Hardaker, Matty Laidlaw and Salabio. The club also listed John Asiata and Cade Cust among its absentees, citing hamstring and shoulder problems respectively, while Joe Batchelor was missing through suspension.

BBC Sport said Hull had entered the game with seven wins from 26 matches. Leeds have now lost three consecutive home games and will host their play-off semi-final on 25 September. Their defeat, combined with Wigan's 50-12 victory over Catalans Dragons, confirmed the League Leaders' Shield for Wigan.
