Hibernian ban Block Seven for three matches after Tannadice disorder
Hibernian have banned the Block Seven supporters' group from their next three fixtures following disorder at their away match against Dundee United. BBC Sport reported that the sanction covers the home games against Falkirk and Celtic at Easter Road, as well as the trip to St Mirren.
Watch the highlights:
The decision follows incidents at Tannadice on Saturday, when photographs showed visiting supporters clashing with police and stewards. Hibernian lost the Scottish Premiership match, which was Marink Reedijk's first as head coach. On Monday, the club had said it would establish the circumstances before deciding what action to take.
In its statement, also reproduced by Celts Are Here, Hibernian said the punishment followed initial investigations and had been discussed with the Scottish Professional Football League. The club noted that it had already imposed a one-match ban after an earlier incident this season. The new sanction therefore extends across both home and away fixtures.
The investigation into the Tannadice events has not concluded. Hibernian said they would continue working with supporters, Police Scotland and Dundee United, and would consider further penalties once that process was finished. Those could apply to individuals, collectively, or both; the three-match ban does not represent a completed disciplinary response.
The club also emphasised supporter safety in explaining its decision. Its statement said people should be able to attend Hibernian matches without feeling unsafe or uncomfortable, and that conduct putting others at risk was unacceptable. It thanked fans for their backing while promising to address behaviour that affected the wider support.
Separately, BBC News reported on Thursday that ten more people had been charged over disorder connected with Hibernian's visit to St Johnstone last month. Police said those incidents occurred during and after the September 6 match at McDiarmid Park, including on the rail network. That announcement concerns a different fixture from the Tannadice investigation.
The latest charges involved five men aged 18 to 25, two 16-year-old boys and three other youths. Two people aged 24 and 17 had previously been arrested and charged in connection with the Perth disorder, according to the BBC report.
