Hearts Reclaim Scottish Premiership Summit Despite Livingston Setback
Hearts returned to the top of the Scottish Premiership table but dropped crucial points in a 2-2 draw with bottom-placed Livingston, while Celtic kept pace with a dramatic 2-1 victory at Dundee.

Hearts have reclaimed their position atop the Scottish Premiership standings, but their failure to defeat bottom-placed Livingston in a frustrating 2-2 draw has left the title race as competitive as it has been all season. The Edinburgh club's inability to restore their three-point cushion over Rangers has intensified the championship battle with just six games remaining.

The Jambos had been displaced from the summit for the first time since September when Rangers moved ahead on goal difference following their 4-2 victory over Dundee United on Saturday. However, Hearts' single-point advantage feels precarious after surrendering a winning position at Almondvale Stadium.

Derek McInnes expressed his disappointment following the match, stating: "Absolutely two points dropped. We lost two really poor goals. We came here with a lot of motivation, the fans turned up and I thought we looked ready for that, but we were guilty of giving up that control and authority."

Hearts appeared to be cruising toward a crucial victory when Lawrence Shankland and Claudio Braga overturned Stevie May's early opener. However, Livingston's Lewis Smith struck the equalizer that left 7,000 traveling supporters frustrated. The situation worsened when Marc Leonard received a red card in stoppage time, reducing Hearts to ten men and highlighting their ongoing struggles in away fixtures.

Celtic capitalized on Hearts' stumble with a dramatic 2-1 triumph at Dens Park, cutting the gap to three points and maintaining their championship hopes. Kelechi Iheanacho's first goal in six months proved decisive, as the striker outmuscled Ryan Astley to control Marcelo Saracchi's cross before firing home the 82nd-minute winner from six yards.

The victory was particularly satisfying for Celtic manager Martin O'Neill, who had questioned his team's desire just a fortnight earlier. "For the first time, a fortnight ago, I had to question whether we really, really wanted it," O'Neill admitted. "Did we reset our attitude? Absolutely, I think we did, and that was to do with the way we approached the game right from the off."

Celtic's path to victory was complicated when Simon Murray converted a VAR-assisted penalty in the 57th minute after Colby Donovan was penalized for handball. The champions had lost all three previous visits to Dundee this season, making this result even more significant for their title aspirations.

Rangers manager Danny Rohl maintained his team's hunter mentality despite briefly leading the table on goal difference. "I was really surprised that this is the first time we've been top in two years," Rohl reflected after their victory over Dundee United. "But the most important thing is that we still have the right mindset. Even now we are top, we have to stay as the hunter."

The title race has developed into genuine three-way competition, with Rangers having closed a 13-point deficit since Rohl's October appointment. Goals from Ryan Naderi, Dujon Sterling, Thelo Aasgaard, and Bojan Miovski secured their victory over United, despite responses from Amar Fatah and Zac Sapsford.

Elsewhere in the Premiership, Hibernian's impressive form continued with a convincing 3-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Easter Road. Owen Elding and Felix Passlack struck within the opening 12 minutes before Ante Suto added a stoppage-time third, moving Hibs within three points of fourth-placed Motherwell in the race for European qualification.

St Mirren dealt Aberdeen a significant blow in their relegation battle with a 2-0 victory that saw Stephen Robinson return to his former club empty-handed. Jonah Ayunga's 40th-minute opener and Alex Gogic's towering 83rd-minute header secured three points that lifted St Mirren level with Aberdeen, three points above the relegation playoff position.

The championship race's intensity reflects the quality and determination across Scottish football's top tier, with each remaining fixture carrying enormous significance for clubs pursuing glory, European qualification, or survival.
