Hearts Coach Expects Claudio Braga to Stay Beyond Transfer Deadline

Hearts head coach Wouter Vrancken expects Claudio Braga to remain with the Scottish club beyond Thursday's transfer deadline, although he acknowledged that late movement is still possible. BBC Sport reported that Vrancken described the Portuguese striker as fully committed to Hearts and said he would bet on the 26-year-old staying at Tynecastle.

Braga has recorded two goals and three assists across 10 appearances this season. He scored 17 times during his first campaign in Edinburgh after arriving from Norway's second tier, establishing himself as an important part of the Hearts attack. Vrancken said the forward's quality, willingness to be coached and team-first approach all strengthen the case for keeping him.

The Belgian coach also believes another full season at Hearts could improve Braga's prospects of eventually earning a move to a bigger club. His view is that interested teams will want evidence that the striker can reproduce his form under different tactical demands, rather than judging him on one productive season in a single style of play.

Vrancken said demonstrating consistent quality in varied systems and positions could expand the range of clubs interested in Braga. That assessment frames a potential stay as beneficial to both Hearts and the player, but the coach stopped short of offering a guarantee. Asked whether Braga would remain after the window shuts, he said he thought so while adding that circumstances can change.

The comments come after a summer of extensive turnover at Hearts. Vrancken replaced Derek McInnes as head coach, while the club brought in 14 players to offset 12 departures. He said Hearts continue to discuss possible incoming and outgoing business and noted that transfer activity can change in the final moments of a window.

Hearts are also preparing to face Hibernian at Easter Road in Thursday's Edinburgh derby. The team won three of the four meetings between the rivals last season and will have left-back Harry Milne available again after his return to fitness. Vrancken called the fixture special for supporters and said Hearts must be ready to compete at full intensity, while stressing that the rivalry should remain on the pitch.
