Harry Kane Ready to Open Bayern Munich Contract Talks
Harry Kane says contract discussions with Bayern Munich are expected to begin soon as the England captain enters the final 12 months of his current agreement. BBC Sport reported that the striker is ready to open talks with the Bundesliga champions following the World Cup and his summer break.
Watch the highlights:
Kane signed a four-year contract when he moved to Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023 for £86.4 million. The 33-year-old said the club and his representatives had agreed to revisit his future after the tournament, with conversations now anticipated this week or next. He described both sides as calm about the situation.
The timing gives Bayern a clear decision to make over a player whose production has remained exceptional. According to BBC Sport, Kane has scored 146 goals in 147 appearances for the club across all competitions. His Bundesliga record stands at 98 goals in 94 games over three seasons, and he has collected the league's Golden Boot in each of those campaigns.
Kane's most recent club season was his most prolific yet in Germany. He scored 61 times in 51 appearances in all competitions as Vincent Kompany's Bayern completed a domestic league and cup double. Those numbers have also placed him among the leading contenders for the 2026 Ballon d'Or, although no outcome has been decided.
His summer with England added another set of milestones. Kane scored six goals at the 2026 World Cup and became the country's leading scorer in the competition, reaching 14 goals across 18 World Cup appearances. He has nevertheless said his attention has shifted toward the new club season rather than the individual award vote, which remains outside his control.
No agreement on an extension has been announced, and Kane did not give a firm date for the opening of negotiations. His comments establish only that both parties are prepared to begin the process while a year remains on his deal. For Bayern, the talks concern a player central to their recent success; for Kane, they will determine whether his stay in Munich extends beyond the contract he signed three years ago.
