Harry Kane says Bayern contract agreement is close, with details still unresolved
Harry Kane says he is close to agreeing a new contract with Bayern Munich, although details still need to be resolved before he signs. According to BBC Sport, the England captain told a news conference that discussions had progressed in recent days and suggested a deal could be completed within days rather than weeks.

Kane said the main issues had largely been settled to the satisfaction of those involved, with lawyers still working through smaller contractual points. He reported further positive discussions that day and expressed hope that an agreement would soon follow. His comments did not amount to confirmation of a signed deal or establish a firm date for its completion.
The update came after Kane won the Ballon d'Or, beating Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona's Lamine Yamal. BBC Sport reported that the 33-year-old was the first English winner since Michael Owen in 2001 and the fifth Englishman to receive the award. He also became Bayern's first winner since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981.
Despite that individual recognition, Kane said winning the Champions League with Bayern would take priority if he had to choose between the two honours. He emphasised the importance of sharing success with team-mates and the club, while saying he still had the opportunity to achieve both. Kane scored 73 goals for club and country last season as Bayern secured a domestic treble.
Bayern and their supporters celebrated his Ballon d'Or success before Saturday's match against Borussia Dortmund. Kane described the period around the award as emotionally mixed, with the celebrations coming alongside difficulties for the squad. He joined Bayern from Tottenham in August 2023 and is now discussing an extension to his time at the German club.
The team remain without head coach Vincent Kompany, who collapsed during a reserve-team training session on 23 October and was taken to hospital. BBC Sport reported that he was discharged five days later and continues his recovery, with no confirmed date for his return. Assistant Aaron Danks has been handling first-team responsibilities. Kane acknowledged the manager's absence while saying the players were managing the situation.
