Hamilton Eyes Victory Path as Brundle Predicts Ferrari 'Big Step' Forward
Lewis Hamilton has signaled his belief that Ferrari can compete for victories this season after former Formula 1 driver and prominent analyst Martin Brundle suggested the Maranello team is on the verge of a significant performance breakthrough.
Hamilton, who made the high-profile switch from Mercedes to Ferrari for the 2025 season, has been adapting to his new machinery during pre-season testing and early races. Despite Ferrari currently sitting third in the constructors' championship behind Red Bull and McLaren, the seven-time world champion has been encouraged by the car's development trajectory.
"The steps we've made since Barcelona have been remarkable," Hamilton revealed. "The engineers have identified areas where we can extract more performance, and I genuinely believe we can challenge for wins before the season is out."
Brundle, speaking on Sky Sports F1, offered a bullish assessment of Ferrari's potential: "Lewis can still take wins. Ferrari is working on a big step forward with their power unit and aerodynamic package. When that arrives, they'll be genuine title contenders."
The British racing legend pointed to Ferrari's improved reliability and consistency as evidence of their underlying competitiveness, suggesting that once the performance deficit to Red Bull is closed, Hamilton's experience could prove decisive in converting race-winning potential into actual victories.
Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur acknowledged the team still has work to do but expressed confidence in their development path: "We are not where we want to be, but the trajectory is positive. Every upgrade we bring to the car is delivering measurable gains."
The Monaco Grand Prix in three weeks' time has been identified by Ferrari as a potential benchmark for their season, with the unique street circuit potentially suited to the SF-25's characteristics.
