Guimaraes winner seals Arsenal comeback against unbeaten Leeds
Bruno Guimaraes scored nine minutes after coming on as Arsenal recovered to beat Leeds 2-1. Riccardo Calafiori had equalised after James Justin put the visitors ahead.

Bruno Guimaraes came off the bench to score the decisive goal as Arsenal beat Leeds United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on October 10, ending the visitors' unbeaten Premier League start. The Guardian reported that the midfielder struck nine minutes after his introduction, completing a turnaround that began with Riccardo Calafiori's equaliser.

Watch the highlights:

Leeds had taken control during the opening stages of the second half after making Arsenal work hard before the interval. Their breakthrough came when Gabriel Gudmundsson got behind Ben White and delivered a cross for James Justin to finish. The goal rewarded a spell in which the visitors had established the upper hand in midfield and put the home defence under pressure.

Arsenal's response came through Calafiori, who forced the ball home after White headed down a cross from Noni Madueke. It was Calafiori's second goal of the season. With the scores level, Mikel Arteta introduced Guimaraes shortly after the hour, and the summer signing from Newcastle helped Arsenal take control of the closing stages.

The winning move brought together Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice. Saka exchanged passes with Odegaard on the left before the captain found Rice inside the area. Rice then used a backheel to set up Guimaraes near the edge of the box, and the Brazilian placed his shot into the corner beyond James Trafford. The assist was Rice's third of the campaign.

Arsenal had opportunities to make the result more comfortable once they were ahead. Odegaard missed from close range, while Trafford stopped Saka in a one-on-one at the end of the match. According to the Guardian's report, Leeds offered little attacking threat during the final half-hour, a contrast with their strong spell immediately after the restart.

Arteta praised his players' response to falling behind after their defeat by Brighton, pointing to their determination and courage. Leeds manager Daniel Farke credited Arsenal's mentality but felt the equaliser had been a crucial missed opportunity for his own side to protect its advantage. Despite the defeat, he said Leeds had improved across several areas since returning to the Premier League and had shown they could compete with Arsenal.
