Guimarães winner lifts Arsenal past Leeds and level with Manchester City
Arsenal recovered from James Justin’s opener to beat Leeds 2-1, with Riccardo Calafiori and substitute Bruno Guimarães scoring after half-time.

Arsenal came from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, with substitute Bruno Guimarães scoring the decisive goal. Sky Sports reported that the victory brought Arsenal level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City and inflicted Leeds' first league defeat of the season. All three goals came after half-time.

The result restored Arsenal to winning ways following their 3-0 defeat at Brighton before the international break. For much of the opening hour, however, Leeds threatened to make it another difficult afternoon for Mikel Arteta's side. Sky Sports reported that David Raya made four saves before the visitors eventually broke through ten minutes into the second half.

The match record published by LaLiga shows how Leeds built that pressure. Jayden Bogle was denied from close range in the 27th minute, while Gabriel Gudmundsson also tested Raya before the interval. Soon after the restart, James Justin sent an effort narrowly off target and Ao Tanaka forced another save with a shot from outside the penalty area.

Justin then scored in the 55th minute, finishing from the right side of the area after Gudmundsson's cross. Arsenal's response came seven minutes later when Riccardo Calafiori converted from close range, with Ben White providing the headed assist. From a position of having to chase the game, the home side were back on level terms.

Arteta followed the equaliser with three changes, introducing Jurriën Timber, Viktor Gyökeres and Guimarães for White, Kai Havertz and Myles Lewis-Skelly. Guimarães supplied the winner in the 70th minute, striking from outside the area after a pass from Declan Rice. LaLiga's match record confirms both the scorer and assist as Arsenal completed their turnaround within eight minutes of equalising.

Sky Sports described Rice's contribution to the winner as a flick following Martin Odegaard's forward pass. Arsenal subsequently had opportunities to add to their lead, but the score remained 2-1. Leeds left without a point despite having led, while Arsenal's two second-half goals were enough to complete their recovery from the defeat at Brighton.
