Greaves Makes Historic PDC Ranking Title Breakthrough as First Woman to Win

Luke Greaves has made darts history by becoming the first woman ever to win a Professional Darts Corporation ranking title, breaking new ground for gender representation in the sport.

The 34-year-old English thrower defeated four-time world champion Michael van Gerwen 7-5 in a stunning final at the Bahrain Masters, producing a clinical finishing display that included a 104.5 average – the highest ever recorded by a woman in a PDC event.

Greaves, who had previously competed in women's events on the World Darts Federation circuit, secured her landmark victory by winning through qualifying rounds before defeating a series of male professionals in the main draw. Her triumph marks a seismic shift in a sport traditionally dominated by men at the elite level.

"This changes everything for women's darts," Greaves said in her post-match interview. "I've always believed I could compete with the best players in the world. Today proved that belief was justified."

The PDC has faced increasing pressure to open more events to female competitors, and Greaves's victory provides compelling evidence that the current ranking system should include more pathways for women to compete at the highest level. Her average of 104.5 during the final surpassed several previous record holders, demonstrating the technical prowess required to compete at this level.

Former world champion Wayne Warren praised Greaves's achievement, stating that her performance should silence skeptics who doubt women's ability to compete at the highest darts levels.
