Grant Forrest wins Spanish Open to secure Masters debut and Open return
Grant Forrest secured his first Masters appearance and a return to The Open by winning the Spanish Open in Madrid on Sunday. According to BBC Sport, the Scot finished with a birdie at the final hole to claim the biggest victory of his career and his third DP World Tour title.

The result brought the 33-year-old a first prize of £480,000 and lifted him 156 places in the world rankings to 140th. It was also his first professional victory outside Scotland, adding a new milestone to a career that began more than a decade ago.
Forrest's opportunity came after playing partner Victor Perez failed to move ahead of Eugenio Chacarra, who was already in the clubhouse. That left Forrest with a putt to win. He told BBC Scotland that his hands were shaking as he prepared for the decisive stroke, describing the moment as the most nervous he could remember feeling on a golf course.
He credited his established routine and recent work on breathing with helping him manage the pressure, both at the finish and during the round. The win brought a sense of relief as well as affirmation after his years in professional golf. His celebrations were followed by a flight from Madrid to New Delhi for the DP World India Championship, with little time for sleep.
A Masters debut in April will give Forrest the chance to compete at a venue he previously visited as a spectator in 2019. He told the BBC that the opportunity had yet to fully register. Next year's Open at St Andrews will be his third appearance in that championship, following outings at Muirfield in 2013 and Carnoustie in 2018.
Forrest moved from the European Challenge Tour to the DP World Tour at the end of 2018 alongside fellow Scots Robert MacIntyre and David Law. Reflecting on Scottish golf, he said successes by compatriots offered encouragement and a reminder that another victory could be close. The BBC also noted titles for Connor Syme and Scott Jamieson in the past two years, alongside Ryder Cup player MacIntyre.
