Golden Knights Surge Past Jets 6-2 as Eichel and Stone Combine for Seven Points
Jack Eichel and Mark Stone combined for seven points as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Winnipeg Jets 6-2, moving within one win of clinching the Pacific Division title.

The Vegas Golden Knights delivered a statement performance on Monday night, dismantling the Winnipeg Jets 6-2 at T-Mobile Arena in a victory that puts them on the brink of a fifth Pacific Division title in their nine-season history.

The offensive catalyst was the dynamic pairing of Jack Eichel and Mark Stone, who together generated seven points in the decisive win. Stone, who has been on a torrid scoring streak, found the net for his fourth goal in three games, while Eichel tallied a goal and three assists in a masterclass display.

The Golden Knights came out firing in the opening period, outshooting the Jets 10-3, though they were initially kept at bay by Connor Hellebuyck. Vegas finally broke through 7:38 into the second period when Stone converted a short-handed breakaway chance. From there, the floodgates opened.

Ivan Barbashev and Rasmus Andersson each recorded a goal and an assist, while Reilly Smith and Pavel Dorofeyev also lit the lamp. Dorofeyev extended his own club record, tallying his 20th power-play goal of the season. Noah Hanifin chipped in with two assists and Carter Hart finished with 21 saves.

For Winnipeg, the night belonged to Mark Scheifele, who recorded a goal and an assist to set a new Jets single-season scoring record with 101 points, surpassing Marian Hossas mark of 100 set back in 2006-07. Gabriel Vilardi also had a goal and an assist in the loss.

The game was notably physical, with the two teams combining for 15 penalties. Eight of those came in a penalty-filled second period alone.

The win caps a remarkable turnaround under new head coach John Tortorella, who took over after Bruce Cassidy was fired. Since then, the Golden Knights have gone 6-0-1 and have not lost in regulation. A victory over Seattle in Wednesday nights regular-season finale will seal the division title and guarantee home-ice advantage through at least the first two rounds of the NHL playoffs.

The Jets will look to bounce back when they visit Utah on Tuesday.
