Gloucester-Hartpury sign Wallaroos prop Bridie O'Gorman
Gloucester-Hartpury have signed Australia prop Bridie O'Gorman for the 2026-27 Premiership Women's Rugby season, adding a 43-cap international to their front row. BBC Sport reported that the 27-year-old tight-head will arrive after the WXV Series finishes at the end of October, with the club's league campaign beginning the following month.
Watch the highlights:
O'Gorman moves from NSW Waratahs after building a domestic and international career in Australia. According to RugbyPass, she started playing at 19 while studying at Sydney University and earned a place in the inaugural Waratahs squad a year later. She has since collected seven Super Rugby Women's titles, bringing experience of repeated domestic success to her new club.
Her first Australia appearance came against Fiji in 2022, RugbyPass reported. She has gone on to represent the Wallaroos at two World Cups: the delayed 2021 edition and the 2025 tournament in England. The move to Gloucester-Hartpury follows that progression from a late introduction to the sport to regular involvement at international level.
Gloucester-Hartpury head of rugby Dan Murphy identified her set-piece ability as a key reason for the signing. In comments reported by BBC Sport, he praised the speed of her development and said her route through the Waratahs into the national side reflected her ability and work ethic. Murphy expects her international experience to strengthen the forward pack.
O'Gorman said the chance to work in a different rugby environment was central to her decision. Having spent her playing career in Australia, she wanted to experience another competition and style of play. She also pointed to Gloucester-Hartpury's reputation in the PWR as an attraction, explaining that the club felt like the right place for that change.
Before joining, O'Gorman will complete her international commitments. RugbyPass reported that Australia's September European tour included defeats by England and France before a 30-10 win over Scotland. The Wallaroos also have consecutive home meetings with Scotland in Sydney and Canberra this month. BBC Sport reported that Gloucester-Hartpury's opening PWR fixture is away to Sale Sharks on 21 November.
