Glen Kamara faces QPR availability doubt as Finland raises release dispute
Finland says QPR demanded Glen Kamara return to London before the international window ended. BBC Sport reports that possible FIFA intervention could affect his availability against West Ham.

Glen Kamara's availability for Queens Park Rangers against West Ham United on Friday is in doubt after Finland challenged his early return from international duty. BBC Sport reports that the Finnish federation intends to inform FIFA of the dispute, although no ruling preventing the midfielder from playing has been announced in that report.

Watch the highlights:

In a statement published on 4 October, the Football Association of Finland said QPR had demanded that Kamara return to London. Head coach Jacob Friis described the player as having been put in a difficult position by his club's insistence that he leave the national squad. Friis said the resulting decision was not what Finland had wanted.

The federation confirmed that Kamara would not travel with the squad to Hungary. Friis expressed disappointment at losing a player he considered worthy of selection, but said Finland retained enough alternatives in midfield. The coach therefore did not intend to call up a replacement for Kamara, who had played the second half of Saturday's win over Albania.

According to BBC Sport's account of FIFA's release rules, a player must remain available throughout the international window unless an early return is separately agreed. Without the national association's consent, a withdrawn player may also be barred from club football for five days after that window ends. Friday's Championship fixture falls three days after the end of the window.

Finnish FA general secretary Marco Casagrande told Helsingin Sanomat that the federation believed those requirements had not been fully observed, BBC Sport reported. He said FIFA would be informed, with any subsequent action left to the governing body. The allegation therefore remains the federation's position, rather than a confirmed disciplinary finding against QPR.

Finland's statement also listed two other absences: midfielder Kaan Kairinen was suspended after receiving two yellow cards, while defender Ville Koski was unavailable through injury. Those withdrawals left the national squad with 23 players, with no additions planned at that stage. BBC Sport said QPR had been approached for comment on the Kamara dispute.
