Glasgow overturn 17-point deficit to beat Benetton 24-20
Glasgow Warriors fought back from 17-0 down to defeat Benetton 24-20, with Jare Oguntibeju scoring the decisive try. The result kept Glasgow unbeaten in the United Rugby Championship.

Glasgow Warriors recovered from a 17-point deficit to beat Benetton 24-20 and preserve their unbeaten start to the United Rugby Championship season. According to BBC Sport's match report, Jare Oguntibeju scored the decisive late try after Glasgow had overturned a difficult first half with three tries in an eight-minute spell.

Watch the highlights:

Benetton led 10-0 at the interval, with Glasgow unable to turn several attacking opportunities into points. Fly-half Jacob Umaga created the opening try by breaking through the visiting defence and releasing centre Federico Zanandrea. Umaga added the conversion and a penalty, leaving the home side with a double-figure advantage while the Warriors remained scoreless at the break.

The gap grew further two minutes into the second half. Louis Lynagh intercepted a pass from Glasgow fly-half Matthew Urwin and ran in beneath the posts, with Umaga converting to make it 17-0. Having failed to score before half-time, Glasgow now needed to respond to a second Benetton try as well as recover the ground lost in the opening period.

Their response came through three different scorers in quick succession. Euan Ferrie supplied the first try from a rolling maul before captain Kyle Steyn finished in the corner following a passing move. Rory Darge then completed a team attack that Steyn had started. Those three tries, scored within eight minutes, brought Glasgow level at 17-17 and erased the advantage Benetton had built either side of the interval.

Benetton regained the lead when Umaga kicked another penalty, forcing Glasgow to chase the game once more. The visitors' fourth try settled it: replacement lock Oguntibeju crossed from close range as the match approached its conclusion. Glasgow finished with two conversions, credited to Urwin and Bayley Kuenzle, and protected their four-point lead through the closing stages to complete the turnaround.

The victory leaves Franco Smith's Glasgow side second in the URC standings, behind Edinburgh, with three wins and a draw. Benetton sit 15th after being unable to hold their substantial lead. For the Warriors, the result extends an unbeaten opening to the campaign despite a match in which they trailed at half-time and again after drawing level.
