Getafe make formal Sancho offer as president confirms talks
BBC Sport reports a formal Getafe offer for free agent Jadon Sancho, while president Ángel Torres has confirmed negotiations. A completed deal has not been announced.

Getafe have made a formal offer for Jadon Sancho, according to BBC Sport, while club president Ángel Torres has publicly confirmed talks with the former Manchester United winger. The 26-year-old remains without a club after his United contract expired in the summer, and no completed agreement has been announced in the reporting.

Watch the highlights:

Spanish newspaper AS reported that Torres discussed the negotiations with Movistar Plus before Getafe's Conference League match in Craiova on Thursday. He said the club was speaking to Sancho again after earlier contact three or four months ago. Torres indicated that the following week could bring clarity on whether the negotiations would produce an agreement, rather than confirming that a signing was already settled.

BBC Sport described a potential agreement as complicated. Its report said Sancho favours leaving England but is still considering all options. Getafe were 14th in La Liga at the time of the report and are also competing in Europe this season. The formal approach therefore gives Sancho another option as his search for a new team continues.

Sancho spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, making 39 appearances as Unai Emery's side qualified for the Champions League and won the Europa League. He appeared late in the final against Freiburg, his third European final in three seasons. His time under contract at United also included loan spells at Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

Getafe have already completed another experienced player's arrival this week. In an official announcement dated October 13, the club confirmed Dani Carvajal had signed a deal running until June 30, 2027. The right-back's move is a completed agreement, unlike the ongoing discussions over Sancho described by Torres and the BBC.

The club's announcement credited Carvajal with 51 Spain appearances and 29 titles across Real Madrid's first team and the national side. Those honours include six Champions League trophies and Spain's 2024 European Championship victory. Getafe said he would add leadership and experience to the squad as he begins his new spell in the south of Madrid.
