Fury Demands Joshua Showdown After Comfortable Comeback Win
The Gypsy King returned after 15 months away with a commanding decision victory and immediately called out his British rival, but Joshua refused to commit.

Tyson Fury is back, and he wants one fight above all others.

The 37-year-old made his return to boxing following a 15-month hiatus with a comfortable unanimous decision win over Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Gypsy King's victory was never really in doubt as he controlled the bout from start to finish, winning widely on all three scorecards.

But the fight itself was only part of the story. The moment the final bell rang, Fury was already looking ahead. He grabbed the microphone and delivered a direct challenge to Anthony Joshua, who was watching ringside. "I challenge you, Anthony Joshua, to fight me next. Do you accept?" Fury demanded to the crowd.

Joshua, however, was not ready to give an inch. He called Fury a "clout chaser" and fired back: "You aren't going to tell me what to do - I've been chasing you for 10 years."

The two British heavyweights have been circling each other for years, and talks are reportedly under way for a potential bout at Croke Park in Dublin this September. Whether those talks produce a signed contract remains to be seen.

Fury's return comes on the back of two losses to Oleksandr Usyk - the only defeats of his professional career. The Ukrainian champion will next defend his WBC title against former kickboxing star Rico Verhoeven on 23 May in Egypt. Usyk is unbeaten in 24 professional bouts.

Meanwhile, the WBO heavyweight picture is heating up. Fabio Wardley puts his title on the line against Daniel Dubois at Manchester's Co-op Live Arena on 9 May. Wardley has said he would be "100% up" for a Fury fight later this year, though he would prioritise a potential undisputed bout with Usyk.

One name to watch is Moses Itauma. The 21-year-old British prospect earned an impressive fifth-round stoppage win over Jermaine Franklin in March, becoming the first fighter to finish the American in 27 fights. Itauma remains the WBO's number one challenger, and his team must decide whether he's ready for a world title shot - or whether a learning fight against someone like Filip Hrgovic makes more sense.

With so much movement in the heavyweight division, boxing fans have plenty to look forward to. But the bout everyone wants to see - Fury versus Joshua - still hangs in the balance, waiting for one side to finally say yes.
