The cream of French racing talent descends on Chantilly racecourse today for a prestigious meeting featuring key trials ahead of the Prix du Jockey Club, with leading trainers using the card to fine-tune their Derby contenders.

Sky Sports Racing cameras will capture all the action from the French track, where three horses withlive prospects for the June Group One encounter will face their first serious tests of the season. Trainer Fabrice Chappet has confirmed his leading hope, the unbeaten colt Beau Loir, will take his place in the Prix de l'Abbaye preparation, viewing this as essential race fitness work before the main target.

The meeting also features the Prix des Reservoirs for unexposed three-year-olds, with several prominent owners and jockeys in attendance to assess potential purchases. Godolphin's French operation has entered two horses, while the Aga Khan's powerful stable has three representatives across the card.

Race conditions have been described as ideal by attending stable staff, with good to firm ground expected following recent dry weather. The forecast suggests excellent conditions for producing fast times, which will serve as an accurate guide to each horse's current wellbeing.

Head trainer at Chantilly, Nicolas Clement, emphasized the importance of the meeting for the local racing community: "These trials are crucial for our preparation. We're seeing some of the finest young horses in Europe, and the quality of racing here today reflects France's continued commitment to breeding championship-calibre thoroughbreds."

First race is scheduled for 1:30 PM local time, with the feature event, the Prix du Jockey Club trial, due off at 4:45 PM.
