Fernandez Heads Chelsea to Victory Over Leeds and Into FA Cup Final
Chelsea secured their place in the FA Cup final through a dramatic extra-time victory over Leeds United, with Keleya Fernandez's powerful header proving decisive after a tense encounter at Wembley.

Chelsea reached the FA Cup final for the fourth time in six years after edging past Leeds United 2-1 in a pulsating semi-final encounter at Wembley Stadium. Substitute Keleya Fernandez proved the difference with a towering header in the 112th minute, silencing the vocal Leeds contingent who had dominated the early exchanges.

The decisive moment arrived after Chelsea had twice come from behind in normal time. Captain Pernille Harder had cancelled out Junior Summerville's opener with a composed finish on 67 minutes, setting up a dramatic finale that tested the nerve and quality of both sets of players.

Mauricio Pochettino's side looked to be heading out when Summerville's deflected strike beat goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger in the 34th minute. The Danish goalkeeper, making her final appearance for the club, was left helpless as the ball wrong-footed the backline and found the bottom corner.

However, the introduction of Fernandez at half-time proved tactical masterstroke from Pochettino. The 24-year-old forward, signed from Real Madrid in January, added physicality and direct running that Leeds struggled to contain, eventually providing the quality moment that separated the teams.

"Keleya has been fantastic since joining us," Pochettino said. "She brings something different to our attack and her timing in the air is exceptional. That goal was fully deserved." Fernandez celebrated with her signature backflip, dedicating the strike to the travelling supporters who had created an electric atmosphere.

Chelsea will face either Manchester United or Tottenham in the final on May 20, seeking to end a trophy-less season on a high note. The Blues, currently seventh in the WSL, have struggled for consistency this campaign but displayed the character and resilience that has defined their cup runs in recent seasons.

Leeds, battling relegation in the league, were left devastated despite an encouraging performance. Manager Jonas Udetter acknowledged his side must channel the performance into crucial league matches as they fight to maintain their top-flight status for next season.
