Falcons end 49ers' unbeaten start with 29-20 victory
Atlanta handed San Francisco its first defeat of the season, forcing four turnovers in a 29-20 victory. Michael Penix threw second-half touchdown passes to Kyle Pitts and Drake London as the Falcons improved to 3-4.

Atlanta ended San Francisco's unbeaten start to the NFL season with a 29-20 victory on Sunday, recovering from an early deficit and forcing four turnovers. According to the Guardian's live reporting, the Falcons improved to 3-4 while the 49ers fell to 6-1, with George Kittle's late fumble allowing Atlanta to kneel out the remaining time.

Watch the highlights:

San Francisco led 14-3 during the first half, but Atlanta had reduced the gap to 14-12 by the interval after Nick Folk made a 33-yard field goal. The 49ers also lost possession when Kaelon Black fumbled in the second quarter. Black had fumbled on the previous play as well, although San Francisco recovered that first loose ball.

Michael Penix put Atlanta ahead in the third quarter with a five-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Pitts. San Francisco then moved into the red zone before Jessie Bates intercepted Brock Purdy near the sideline. Officials reviewed the catch and upheld it, keeping the Falcons in front as San Francisco's attempt to regain the advantage ended without points.

Atlanta extended its lead to 26-14 early in the fourth quarter when Penix found Drake London for a 21-yard touchdown, completing a 90-yard drive. San Francisco subsequently surrendered possession on downs after Purdy was sacked on fourth-and-10. The quarterback later brought the 49ers back within six points, finding Kyle Juszczyk for a one-yard touchdown to finish a 10-play, 82-yard drive with 5:05 remaining.

The comeback stalled when rookie Kendal Daniels intercepted Purdy with 2:34 left. Folk converted a 31-yard field goal with 1:56 remaining to stretch Atlanta's advantage to nine points. Kittle's subsequent fumble ended San Francisco's final effort to respond, completing a game in which the 49ers repeatedly lost possession despite having established an early lead.

While San Francisco lost its perfect record, Minnesota preserved its own with a 16-10 victory over Indianapolis. The Vikings moved to 6-0 after Harrison Smith intercepted Daniel Jones to close out the game. Kyler Murray had connected with T.J. Hockenson for a five-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter, and Will Reichard added a 52-yard field goal with 1:39 remaining before Smith's decisive interception.
