Scottie Scheffler Claims Second PGA Championship with Dominant Sunday Performance at Valhalla Golf Club
The world No. 1 fired a final-round 65 to win by three shots and capture his fourth major championship in Louisville.

Scottie Scheffler delivered a masterful final-round performance on Sunday at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, firing a brilliant 7-under 65 to claim his second PGA Championship by three shots over Rory McIlroy and capture his fourth major championship with the kind of dominant display that has established him as the premier player in professional golf.

The 29-year-old world No. 1 was in complete control throughout the final 18 holes, making eight birdies against just one bogey while demonstrating the kind of precision iron play and putting excellence that has made him virtually unbeatable when he brings his A-game to major championship venues. Scheffler finished at 20-under par, matching the lowest 72-hole score in PGA Championship history.

This feels absolutely incredible because Valhalla has such amazing history, and to win here in front of these passionate Kentucky golf fans makes it even more special, Scheffler said while holding the Wanamaker Trophy during the champion ceremony. I felt really comfortable with my game all week, and today everything just clicked perfectly when I needed it most.

Scheffler victory was built on his exceptional approach play and improved putting stroke, as he gained significant strokes on the field in both categories throughout the championship week. His ability to consistently find favorable positions on Valhalla challenging greens allowed him to create numerous birdie opportunities while avoiding the big mistakes that derailed other contenders.

McIlroy fought valiantly throughout the final round despite ultimately falling short of his quest for a first major championship since 2014, posting a solid 68 that included several spectacular shots and clutch putts. However, the Northern Irish superstar could not match Scheffler consistency and precision when the championship was decided over the back nine holes.

The PGA Championship triumph extends Scheffler remarkable run of success that has seen him win multiple major championships and establish himself as the clear No. 1 player in the world rankings. His combination of power, precision, and mental toughness makes him the favorite at every tournament he enters when his confidence is high.

Scheffler success at Valhalla was particularly impressive given the quality of the field and challenging course conditions that required precise shot-making and strategic course management. His ability to execute under extreme pressure while maintaining his aggressive style demonstrated the kind of championship mentality that separates elite players from the rest of the field.

With this major championship secured, Scheffler will turn his attention to the upcoming U.S. Open at Pinehurst, where he will attempt to continue his dominant 2026 season and potentially achieve a calendar year Grand Slam. His current form and confidence level make him a dangerous competitor at any venue when he is executing at this elite level.
