Everton Face Armstrong Decision After Nottingham Forest Bid
The Guardian reports that Everton face a decision over Harrison Armstrong after Nottingham Forest submitted an offer for the 19-year-old midfielder. Manager David Moyes said the proposed sale would be a club decision, while making clear that he would prefer Armstrong to remain with his squad.
Watch the highlights:
What happened: Armstrong played the full 90 minutes of Everton’s 1-1 draw away to Bournemouth on Saturday. James Tarkowski scored in injury time to earn Everton a point, and Moyes said Armstrong had played well, worked hard and exerted more influence in the first half than after the interval.
The Guardian reported that Forest’s offer is worth £40 million. Moyes confirmed that an offer had been received but did not provide its value. He also reiterated his view that Everton need to strengthen, saying the squad has a good basis but requires additions, and that the team cannot afford to lose its better players.
Why it matters: Armstrong’s situation places Everton’s squad-building plans alongside a significant decision about one of their young midfielders. Supporters at Bournemouth voiced opposition to a possible sale. Moyes said fans must be considered, while acknowledging that clubs sometimes have to make difficult and unpopular decisions for reasons beyond a manager’s control.
The report also detailed separate business involving Nottingham Forest. Forest have agreed a deal with Crystal Palace for Colombia defender Daniel Muñoz, with an initial fee of £22 million reported. The 30-year-old is due to have a medical in the coming days after the clubs reached agreement.
Muñoz joined Crystal Palace in 2024 and worked there under Oliver Glasner, who moved from Palace to Nottingham Forest this summer. He was an unused substitute during Palace’s 4-1 home defeat by Manchester City on Friday, having featured in Pierre Sage’s first match in charge, a 2-0 loss at Everton. For Armstrong, no transfer has been confirmed, and Moyes said the club will determine what happens next.
