Everton Agree Season-Long Deal to Bring Jack Grealish Back

Everton have agreed a deal with Manchester City for Jack Grealish to return on a season-long loan, BBC Sport reported on Tuesday. The transfer has not yet been completed: the 30-year-old is set to undergo a medical before the 23:00 BST deadline, leaving the final formalities still to be concluded.

Grealish spent much of last season on loan at Everton under a similar arrangement. He scored twice and supplied six assists in 20 appearances before a foot injury in January ended his campaign. His proposed return would therefore resume a spell that was cut short rather than begin a first stint with the Merseyside club.

BBC Sport reported that other teams, including Grealish's boyhood club Aston Villa, had been linked with the England winger. His preference was to return to Everton. Chief executive Angus Kinnear had told BBC Radio Merseyside that the club had remained in contact with the player after his previous loan ended.

The agreement comes as Everton work on several deadline-day moves. The club wants to strengthen its attacking options, with winger Iliman Ndiaye expected to complete a £65 million transfer to Manchester City. Everton are also reported to be nearing a £40 million deal for Monaco and United States forward Folarin Balogun, while talks over bringing Richarlison back from Tottenham appear to have stalled on personal terms.

Grealish joined Manchester City from Aston Villa for £100 million in August 2021. He has made two appearances for City under Enzo Maresca this season, coming off the bench in the Community Shield defeat by Arsenal and the Premier League victory over Bournemouth. He was not involved in City's 4-1 win at Crystal Palace on Friday.

The winger has won three Premier League titles, the Champions League and the FA Cup during his time with City. For Everton, the immediate focus is completing his medical and registration before the deadline. The club's next match is at home to Manchester United on Sunday, but the BBC report did not state whether Grealish would be available for that fixture.
