Europe reclaim Solheim Cup with 15-13 victory over United States

Europe regained the Solheim Cup with a 15-13 victory over the United States at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands on Sunday, September 13. The Ladies European Tour’s official scoreboard confirmed a 7-5 European advantage in the singles after the teams had entered the final day level at 8-8.

Carlota Ciganda and Lottie Woad were central to the closing stages. According to AS, Woad’s victory over Auston Kim made the European success certain because Ciganda was already assured of at least a half-point against Jennifer Kupcho. Ciganda subsequently completed a 4&2 win, while Woad’s match ended 2&1. Europe were reclaiming the trophy after their defeat in 2024.

The Sunday outcome followed an opening day in which neither side could establish an advantage. Sky Sports reported that both Friday sessions finished 2-2, with Ciganda salvaging a par on the final hole to secure a half-point alongside Lopez Ramirez against Korda and Coughlin. Rhodes and Nadaud supplied Europe’s only outright fourball victory that afternoon, beating Corpuz and Kim 2&1.

Captain Anna Nordqvist’s European squad combined eight returning Solheim Cup players with four debutants, according to Sky Sports’ team reporting. Woad qualified through the world rankings, while Lopez Ramirez, Nadaud and Rhodes received captain’s picks. The selections brought newcomers into a side that also included experienced players such as Hull and Ciganda; three of those four debutants ultimately contributed singles victories to Sunday’s winning total.
