England call up Rew and Jack for Australia tour as Bethell returns
Thomas Rew and Eddie Jack have earned their first senior England call-ups for the Australia T20 series. Jacob Bethell returns from injury for both white-ball squads.

England have handed Thomas Rew and Eddie Jack their first senior international call-ups for the T20 series in Australia, with Jacob Bethell also returning from injury. The England and Wales Cricket Board announced separate 16-player squads on Tuesday, both captained by Harry Brook, as selectors balance the white-ball trip with the subsequent Test tour of South Africa.

Watch the highlights:

Bethell is fit after the knee injury he suffered during July's ODI series against India. Jofra Archer returns to the ODI group after being rested for the Pakistan tri-series. The ECB confirmed that Archer, Gus Atkinson, Sonny Baker and Josh Tongue will leave Australia after the three one-day matches to prepare for the Tests.

The T20 changes also include the return of Phil Salt following a quad injury and the recall of Luke Wood. Jos Buttler remains unavailable while recovering from hamstring surgery, and Saqib Mahmood misses out because of a knee injury. The ECB said the T20 squad contains four players yet to win a senior England cap.

BBC Sport reported that the tour will open with an ODI in Perth on 13 November and finish with the fifth T20 in Canberra on 2 December. England's first T20 is scheduled for 21 November at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Australia finale falls just a week before a warm-up match in South Africa ahead of the three-Test series.

Rew, Somerset's 18-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, and Hampshire fast bowler Jack, 21, were both awarded development central contracts on Monday, according to BBC Sport. Rew scored two County Championship centuries during the summer. He is the younger brother of James Rew, who made his England Test debut against New Zealand at The Oval in June.

Jack is one of three specialist fast bowlers in the T20 squad, alongside Henry Crocombe and Wood, BBC Sport reported. Crocombe is included for both formats. Brook, Bethell and Jordan Cox are also named in both squads, while Ben Duckett joins the four departing ODI seamers in missing the T20 leg to prepare for South Africa.
