England award 39 player contracts as uncapped Crocombe gets two-year deal
Henry Crocombe receives a two-year England contract despite being uncapped. Brydon Carse remains on his existing deal while a Cricket Regulator investigation continues.

England have announced contracts for 39 men's players, with uncapped pace bowler Henry Crocombe receiving a two-year deal and Brydon Carse remaining on the list while a disciplinary investigation continues. BBC Sport reported that Monday's announcement covers 30 full central contracts and nine development agreements, alongside changes to the coaching staff for the Test and white-ball teams.

Watch the highlights:

Crocombe is among 11 players awarded two-year contracts running until 30 September 2028, a group that includes Test captain Joe Root and white-ball captain Harry Brook. BBC Sport described the length of Crocombe's agreement as unprecedented for an uncapped player. He joins Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Sonny Baker and Josh Tongue among the specialist fast bowlers given multi-year deals.

Seven players have received full central contracts for the first time: Crocombe, Emilio Gay, Jordan Cox, Dan Lawrence, Tom Banton, Sam Cook and Matthew Fisher. Ollie Robinson is back on the list after two years without a contract. Shoaib Bashir retains his agreement, while fellow spinners Mason Crane and Liam Patterson-White are among those receiving development contracts.

Carse's inclusion reflects the existing two-year deal he received last year, which runs until autumn 2027. The Cricket Regulator has charged him with breaching England and Wales Cricket Board professional conduct rules following an August incident outside a Derby nightclub. BBC reported that he was arrested and then de-arrested, and that Derbyshire Police subsequently took no action over assault allegations. The disciplinary process remains unresolved.

Director of cricket Rob Key told the Test Match Special podcast that Carse could play for England again, depending on the outcome of the Regulator's case. The bowler remains available for selection but has not joined an England squad since the incident while taking time away from international cricket. Key said the absence of a contract extension did not settle the question of Carse's future with England.

England also confirmed Richard Dawson, James Foster and Eric Simons will work under Test head coach Stephen Fleming, with Marcus Trescothick staying with the red-ball team. Brendon McCullum's white-ball staff retains Sarah Taylor, Jeetan Patel and Tim Southee, while Kevin Pietersen will contribute before next year's 50-over World Cup. England's upcoming white-ball trips are to Pakistan and Australia; Jos Buttler will miss both after hamstring surgery, BBC reported.
