Enciso equaliser earns Ipswich a point as Forest miss chances
Julio Enciso scored before half-time as Ipswich Town drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest at Portman Road on Friday, October 23. Forest had taken the lead through Neco Williams but were unable to find a winning goal despite creating more chances, according to Sky Sports' match report.
Watch the highlights:
Williams opened the scoring in the 13th minute, meeting Daniel Muñoz's cross to put the visitors ahead. Suffolk Village Info reported that the wind was already influencing play and that Forest had threatened through Jair Cunha, whose effort was saved by Christian Walton. Liam Delap also shot wide as the visitors sought to turn their early opportunities into an advantage.
Ipswich responded with chances of their own. Jaden Philogene tested Matz Sels after Exequiel Palacios' cross was knocked down, while Enciso worked his way past defenders before forcing another save. Suffolk Village Info also described a Forest counterattack that nearly brought a second goal: Morgan Gibbs-White's effort was stopped on the line by Leif Davis, with Issa Diop then clearing the danger.
The equaliser arrived in the 41st minute when Nikola Milenkovic's attempted pass back towards Sels went wrong. Enciso took advantage to bring Ipswich level. Sky Sports reported that Forest finished with 17 shots to Ipswich's seven, but the two first-half goals remained the only ones as the visitors again struggled to turn their attacking work into goals.
A challenge by Diop on James McAtee became a major second-half talking point. Referee Thomas Bramall reviewed the incident at the pitchside monitor, but Diop received a yellow card rather than being sent off. Sky Sports reported that Davis made two goal-line clearances during the match, while Delap and Callum Hudson-Odoi were among the Forest players who failed to take chances.
The point changed both clubs' positions ahead of the remaining weekend fixtures. Suffolk Village Info reported that Forest moved out of the relegation zone and Ipswich climbed to ninth. It was Ipswich's first draw of the season, while Forest avoided a fourth consecutive defeat without securing the victory their opportunities had offered.
