Enciso earns Ipswich draw as Nottingham Forest rue missed chances
Julio Enciso scored a first-half equaliser as Ipswich Town drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest at Portman Road on Friday, October 23. Neco Williams had put the visitors ahead, but they were unable to find a winner despite creating more opportunities. Sky Sports reported that Forest remain on just one victory from eight Premier League matches.
Watch the highlights:
Williams opened the scoring in the 13th minute after meeting a cross from Daniel Muñoz. According to Suffolk Village Info's match report, Forest also threatened through Morgan Gibbs-White, while Ipswich goalkeeper Christian Walton had earlier kept out Jair Cunha. The visitors' early attacking work produced a lead, but not the second goal that would have extended it.
Ipswich responded with efforts from Jaden Philogene and Enciso that tested Matz Sels before the equaliser arrived in the 41st minute. Suffolk Village Info reported that Dara O'Shea sent the ball upfield and Nikola Milenkovic's attempted back-pass fell short. Enciso collected it and finished past Sels, leaving the teams level at the interval.
A second-half VAR review brought another significant moment when Issa Diop challenged James McAtee. Referee Thomas Bramall checked the pitchside monitor and awarded Forest a free-kick, booking Diop rather than sending him off. Sky Sports reported that Bramall explained the decision by pointing to McAtee's touch towards the right side of the goal. Forest manager Oliver Glasner disagreed with the outcome.
Leif Davis helped preserve the draw with two goal-line clearances, as reported by Suffolk Village Info. The final statistics published by Sky Sports showed Forest ahead 17-7 on shots and 5-3 on efforts on target. Forest also had all five of the game's corners, with expected goals of 2.31 compared with Ipswich's 0.46, but those advantages did not produce a winning goal.
Liam Delap and Callum Hudson-Odoi were among the Forest players unable to convert further openings. Sky Sports noted that Ipswich have now collected seven home points this season, matching their entire Portman Road return from the 2024-25 Premier League campaign. For Forest, the draw left another gap between the chances they created and the result they secured.
