Faker and T1 Capture League of Legends World Championship with Dominant 3-0 Victory Over Gen.G
The legendary mid-laner secured his sixth world title as T1 completed a perfect tournament run in front of 40,000 fans at Seoul's Gocheok Sky Dome.

Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok added another legendary chapter to his esports legacy Wednesday night at Seoul's Gocheok Sky Dome, leading T1 to a commanding 3-0 victory over Gen.G Esports to capture the 2026 League of Legends World Championship in front of 40,000 euphoric home fans.

The 30-year-old mid-lane maestro was simply unstoppable throughout the finals, delivering masterful performances on Azir, LeBlanc, and Orianna while orchestrating T1's team fights with the precision and game knowledge that has made him the most successful player in League of Legends history.

"This feels like a dream," Faker said through tears during the trophy presentation ceremony. "To win Worlds again in Korea, in front of our home crowd, with this amazing team - I couldn't have written a better ending. Six championships still doesn't feel real, but this group of players made it possible with their incredible dedication."

T1's victory completed a perfect tournament run that saw them drop only three games across the entire competition. Support player Keria was instrumental throughout the series, landing crucial hooks and engages that set up Faker and ADC Gumayusi for game-changing plays in all three matches.

Gen.G fought valiantly but couldn't match T1's superior macro play and team coordination when it mattered most. Mid-laner Chovy had several impressive moments in the series, but T1's experience in high-pressure situations ultimately proved decisive in the biggest moments.

The championship marks T1's fifth World title and extends their record as the most successful organization in League of Legends history. Head coach "kkOma" Kim Jeong-gyun praised his team's preparation and mental resilience throughout the tournament, emphasizing the months of practice required to reach this level.

Faker's sixth world championship solidifies his status as the undisputed greatest player in League of Legends history and potentially all of esports. His longevity at the highest level, combined with his ability to adapt and excel across multiple metas, continues to inspire a new generation of professional players worldwide. The victory also earned T1 the $500,000 first-place prize and qualification for next year's Mid-Season Invitational as Korea's representative.
