Sky Sports Agrees US Open Broadcast Extension Through 2030

Sky Sports has agreed a three-year contract extension to retain live United Kingdom coverage of the US Open through 2030, The Guardian reported on Wednesday. The agreement is expected to be announced when the singles competition begins at Flushing Meadows next week. Sky had not commented on the report at the time of publication.

The reported terms provide for more than 12 hours of live tennis each day across the tournament’s expanded three-week schedule. That coverage includes the new mixed doubles event taking place this week, giving Sky a substantial daily programming commitment before and during the main singles draws.

Sky returned as the exclusive live UK home of the US Open in 2023 under a five-year agreement, replacing Amazon Prime. The broadcaster had stepped away from tennis in 2017, after which Amazon acquired rights to the US Open as well as the combined ATP and WTA tours.

According to The Guardian, Emma Raducanu’s 2021 US Open title played a significant role in persuading Sky to bid for the tournament rights again. Raducanu will not compete in this year’s event, however. The report said the world No. 68 is sidelined by a shin stress fracture sustained during the buildup to Wimbledon.

Audience composition is also an important part of Sky’s interest in tennis. The Guardian reported that women accounted for about 60 percent of Sky’s tennis audience in 2025, compared with 31 percent across the broadcaster’s overall coverage. That difference gives the sport particular commercial value as Sky seeks to reach advertisers and brands interested in a broader audience.

The US Open extension sits alongside Sky’s separate five-year agreement for exclusive UK coverage of the ATP and WTA tours, which began in 2024 and runs through 2028. The Guardian also reported that Sky wants to extend that partnership and that talks over a new agreement are under way.

The wider UK tennis-rights landscape is split among several broadcasters. The BBC extended its Wimbledon contract through 2033 this summer, while TNT Sports holds rights to the Australian Open and French Open. The new US Open agreement would therefore secure Sky’s place in the sport’s schedule for another three years beyond its current deal.
