Durán Leads Celtic Past Aberdeen as Perfect League Start Continues

Celtic extended their perfect start to the Scottish Premiership season with a 3-0 victory over Aberdeen at Parkhead on Wednesday. Camilo Durán opened the scoring before Benjamin Nygren and Yang Hyun-jun added further goals, giving the defending champions a fourth win from four league matches.

Durán struck in the 14th minute after receiving a pass from Nygren, driving a long-range effort in off the crossbar. According to an Agence France-Presse report published by The Guardian, the Colombian has now scored six goals in five appearances for Martin O’Neill’s side since joining Celtic from Qarabag during the close season.

Nygren and Yang also found the net before half-time, putting Celtic firmly in control. The result kept the champions two points clear of second-placed St Mirren, despite Celtic’s recent Champions League elimination by Lask. Striker Kasper Høgh remains sidelined with a thigh injury, while Durán’s form has given O’Neill another option through the middle.

Before the match, former Celtic and Liverpool player Kenny Dalglish received an ovation on the pitch. The 75-year-old announced earlier this year that he was undergoing treatment for cancer. Dalglish began his senior career with Celtic before moving to Liverpool in 1977.

Elsewhere, Rangers earned a 2-1 away win over Falkirk through two goals from captain Lawrence Shankland. He put Rangers ahead in the seventh minute, but Aston Villa loanee Kosta Nedeljkovic scored an own goal shortly before half-time to level the match. Shankland then delivered the winner in the 79th minute.

St Mirren stayed second after Fraser Taylor’s third-minute goal secured a 1-0 victory at Kilmarnock, the club’s first win at Rugby Park in 13 years. Motherwell moved into third with a 3-0 win over Dundee United, while St Johnstone recovered a 1-1 draw against Dundee when Josh Fowler equalised in the 90th minute after Charlie Reilly had scored three minutes earlier.
