Draper dumped out of Madrid Open as Boulter faces Townsend in first round
Jack Draper's Madrid Open campaign ended in disappointment as he suffered a straight-sets defeat, while Katie Boulter has been drawn against Emma Townsend in the opening round.

Jack Draper's Masters 1000 campaign in Madrid came to an abrupt end on Tuesday as the British No. 1 was beaten 6-4, 6-2 by Argentina's Tomás Martín Etcheverry in just 72 minutes.

Watch the highlights:

Draper, who reached the semi-finals in Barcelona last month, struggled with his serve throughout the match, winning just 58 percent of first-serve points. The world No. 19 converted only one of seven break points created.

"I didn't play well today," Draper admitted afterward. "Tomás was too solid, and I wasn't able to impose my game. Credit to him - he played a very clean match."

Etcheverry, currently ranked 32nd in the world, will face either Alejandro Tabilo or Francisco Comesaña in the second round.

Meanwhile, Katie Boulter will face Emma Townsend in the first round after the draw was made following Draper's exit. Boulter, ranked 62nd, reached the quarter-finals in Stuttgart last month and will be favored against the world No. 141.

In other results from Tuesday, Coco Gauff eased past Bernarda Pera 6-2, 6-3, while Casper Ruud overcame a sluggish start to beat Sebastián Báez 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
