Dewald Brevis Powers South Africa Past Zimbabwe in Windhoek

Dewald Brevis hit an unbeaten 75 from 32 balls as South Africa defeated Zimbabwe by seven wickets in their men's Twenty20 international in Windhoek on Saturday. Chasing 145, South Africa reached 146 for three in 13.4 overs, according to the BBC Sport scorecard.

Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat at the FNB Namibia Cricket Ground. Brian Bennett made 34 from 35 deliveries at the top of the order, while Ben Curran scored 24 from 12. Their opening contribution ended when Curran was dismissed with the total on 45 in the sixth over.

Zimbabwe moved to 76 for two before losing Bennett at 80 for three. Captain Sikandar Raza scored 10 from 17 balls and Ryan Burl added four from seven as South Africa restricted the middle order. Tadiwanashe Marumani then provided late acceleration with 30 from 13 balls, including one four and three sixes, before Zimbabwe finished on 144 for eight from its 20 overs.

Duan Jansen led South Africa's bowling figures with three wickets for 45 runs from four overs. Prenelan Subrayen took two for 27, while Eathan Bosch, Bjorn Fortuin and Kwena Maphaka claimed one wicket apiece. Bosch conceded 20 from his four overs, the most economical complete spell in the innings.

South Africa lost Jordan Hermann for 20 with the score on 32, but Lhuan-dre Pretorius added 22 from 13 balls before departing at 61 for two. Brevis then drove the chase, striking seven fours and six sixes. Tony de Zorzi made 15 from 17 and was the third wicket to fall, with South Africa on 107 after 11 overs.

Rubin Hermann joined Brevis and remained unbeaten on 11 from seven balls as South Africa completed the chase. Zimbabwe's Brad Evans, Blessing Muzarabani and Newman Nyamhuri each took one wicket, but none of the six bowlers used could remove Brevis. His innings produced more than half of South Africa's total and ensured the target was reached comfortably inside the allotted 20 overs.
