Daryz Given Royal Ascot Target After Dominant Prix Ganay Victory
The four-year-old son of Sea The Stars delivered a commanding display at Longchamp to secure his place among the leading contenders for Royal Ascot's premier events this summer.

Daryz has emerged as a serious contender for Royal Ascot glory after an impressive victory in the Prix Ganay at Longchamp on Sunday. Trained by Christopher Head, the four-year-old son of Sea The Stars produced a dominant performance to stamp his authority on the middle-distance division and set up a potential summer campaign at the royal meeting.

Jockey Christophe Soumillon positioned Daryz perfectly throughout the race before asking for maximum effort in the final furlong. The response was immediate, with the colt quickening away from his rivals to win by a commanding two and a half lengths. The winning time of 2:03.4 represented a significant improvement on his previous outing and signaled his readiness for Group One company.

"This was the plan coming into the race," Head said after the victory. "We wanted to see him settle better and finish strongly. The way he did that today suggests he's ready for bigger challenges ahead. Royal Ascot is definitely the target now."

The Prix Ganay success follows Daryz's second-place finish in the Prix Hocourt last month and represents a breakthrough at the top level for the improving colt. Connections had been patient with his development, and Sunday's performance suggested the patience is about to pay significant dividends.

The Sea The Stars lineage has proven particularly successful at Ascot, with several descendants excelling over both distance configurations. Daryz's victory pattern suggests he could be suited to either the Prince of Wales's Stakes or the Gold Cup, depending on how the season unfolds.

Bookmakers have reacted quickly to the performance, with Daryz shortening considerably for the Prince of Wales's Stakes. "He's a horse who's improving all the time," commented one leading odds compiler. "If he can replicate this level at Ascot, he'll be a major player in whatever race he targets."
