Darcy Graham ruled out of Scotland autumn Tests as Edinburgh injuries mount

Darcy Graham will miss Scotland's autumn internationals after suffering a ruptured bicep, BBC Sport reported on Thursday. Edinburgh head coach Sean Everitt said the winger faces at least 12 weeks out, ruling him out of the home Tests against New Zealand, Australia and Japan. Everitt attributed the injury to an unusual collision.

The 29-year-old is Scotland's leading try-scorer, with 38 tries in 57 appearances. His absence removes that scoring experience from Gregor Townsend's side as they resume their Nations Championship campaign. Scotland face New Zealand at Murrayfield on 7 November, followed by Australia and Japan on the next two weekends.

According to the BBC, Scotland sit second behind France in the northern hemisphere standings after summer victories over Argentina and Fiji and a 42-28 defeat by South Africa. The inaugural competition concludes with a finals weekend at Twickenham on 27 and 28 November. Graham's recovery estimate extends beyond those fixtures.

The injury also adds to problems at Edinburgh that were documented by RugbyPass on 17 September. That report counted 14 injured players, including nine Scotland internationals, before the latest Graham update. First-choice full-back Wes Goosen had sustained a hamstring injury, with Everitt estimating an absence of three to four weeks at that stage.

RugbyPass also reported that fellow Scotland winger Duhan van der Merwe was expected to remain unavailable until at least mid-October because of a recurring ankle problem. Young wing Jack Brown had injured his medial collateral ligament while playing for Edinburgh A against Ealing Trailfinders and was due to seek specialist advice. Malelili Satala was another winger recovering from an ankle issue.

Those earlier assessments underline the number of back-three options Edinburgh had already lost before Graham's setback. The same report said lock Grant Gilchrist would miss the opening block of matches with a torn bicep, while hooker Patrick Harrison was out until the new year following back surgery. Edinburgh's opening United Rugby Championship fixtures are against Ulster in Belfast, Stormers at home and Zebre in Parma.
