Crystal Palace beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 on Glasner's Selhurst Park return
Crystal Palace came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at Selhurst Park on Sunday, turning Oliver Glasner's return to his former club into a defeat. Palace's official match report described the result as their first home Premier League victory of the season, with Pierre Sage's side moving up to 12th in the table.
Watch the highlights:
Dan Ndoye gave Forest an early advantage, but the visitors were unable to turn sustained pressure into a larger lead. Palace's report highlighted goalkeeper Walter Benitez's contribution in keeping his team in contention. His saves allowed the hosts to recover from a difficult opening spell before two goals shortly before half-time transformed the match.
Sky Sports reported that Ndoye scored in the third minute after Anan Khalaili's attempted header back towards his goalkeeper fell into the forward's path. Forest later came close to doubling their advantage when Morgan Gibbs-White struck the crossbar and Benitez stopped Liam Delap from close range. Daichi Kamada equalised in the 41st minute for his first Premier League goal.
Palace then went ahead from a Jefferson Lerma header in first-half stoppage time. Sky Sports credited Lerma with the goal, while the club's written account described Khalaili as providing a close-range deflection. Whatever the final attribution, Palace had overturned Forest's lead before the interval, leaving the visitors trailing despite the chances they had created.
Yeremy Pino made it 3-1 in the 59th minute, finishing after Matz Sels saved Jorgen Strand Larsen's shot, according to Sky Sports. The goal ended Pino's run of 19 Premier League appearances without scoring. Benitez continued to protect Palace's advantage, including a close-range stop from substitute Chris Wood as Forest sought a way back into the game.
In comments carried by Sky Sports, Sage said the fixture was not about revenge against Glasner, while acknowledging that Palace had conceded too many chances. Glasner, meanwhile, said he was encouraged by his team's performance despite the result and thanked Palace supporters for their warm reception before kick-off. His side finished the afternoon 14th, with five points from six matches.
