Crystal Palace Complete Permanent Deals for Quinten Timber and Ben Chilwell
Crystal Palace have completed permanent signings for Netherlands midfielder Quinten Timber and England defender Ben Chilwell, adding two experienced internationals to their squad. BBC Sport reported the deals early on Wednesday, and Palace confirmed both moves in separate club announcements. The club said Timber has signed a contract running until 2031, while Chilwell's transfer is subject to international clearance.
Watch the highlights:
Timber arrives at Selhurst Park after joining Marseille in January 2026. Palace did not disclose a transfer fee. The 25-year-old has made 13 senior appearances for the Netherlands and scored once, according to the club. He also played twice for his country at the 2026 World Cup in North America before making the move to the Premier League.
The midfielder began in the youth systems of DVSU and Feyenoord before moving into Ajax's academy alongside his twin brother, Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber. He later returned to Utrecht and was named the club's player of the year in his only season there. A move to Feyenoord followed in 2022, and he won the Eredivisie in his first campaign.
Timber added the KNVB Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield with Feyenoord in 2024. That year also brought his senior Netherlands debut against Germany and his appointment as Feyenoord captain. Palace chairman Steve Parish said the club believes Timber's leadership, tenacity and ability can flourish in the Premier League.
Chilwell, 29, returns to Palace after spending the second half of the 2024-25 season there on loan from Chelsea. He made 11 appearances and scored once during a spell that ended with Palace winning the FA Cup at Wembley, the club's first domestic trophy. He then joined Strasbourg, making 34 appearances last season and facing Palace in the UEFA Conference League.
The left-back began his senior career at Leicester City, making 123 appearances over five years, before joining Chelsea in August 2020. He won the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup at Stamford Bridge. Chilwell also has 21 England caps and was part of the squad that reached the Euro 2020 final. Palace said he is the club's ninth signing of the summer.
